The best design and visualization application made for iPad sets a new bar for realtime rendering and AR visualization
swatchbook inc, a leader in material management, sourcing, visualization and digitization introduces the latest version of mix, the realtime design, configuration and visualization solution for iPad, as well MacOS. This release introduces ground-breaking advancements in realtime visualization as well as Augmented Reality (AR) as not seen before on a mobile device.
What is mix?
mix is the first interactive 3D design and visualization application with a built in ML engine, powered by the magic of touch. Tapping into the swatchbook cloud backbone, designers have thousands of materials and colors at their fingertips to create designs of their 3D models with a few simple clicks, through the machine, or in a combination of both. No shader tweaking, only beautifully digitized materials and colors that can be applied directly to one or many parts of the 3D object, with the beauty of recoloring to create your own, unique creations of new designs based on your own seasonal color palette. Since you are using a mobile device you can choose to design and visualize the model in realtime render mode or in AR. Once finished, a simple push of a button will save your designs in the swatchbook cloud, create photographic content of your design along with a detailed virtual Bill of Materials (vBoM), all generated automatically and available to be shared with the design team, factories or retail. It's like magic!
Realtime and AR rendering like never before
With mix 3.0 rendering has been taken to the next level without the need for 3rd party plugins or render engines. Unlike other render engines and applications, rendering in mix is always “real-time” without any delay waiting for the image to fully develop when the camera motion stops.
With a single button users can go from design view to photographic representation in realtime. To make the view photographic, mix uses various camera lens effects including Interactive depth of field, chromatic aberration and vignetting.
Interactive depth of field
Users have the ability to place the camera focal point anywhere on the object through a long press on the detailed area they want to focus on. This works on all zoom levels and as such enhances the realism of the scene dramatically.
As an industry first, mix also allows designers to use depth of field in AR view, once again allowing the user to focus on the detail of the object while applying depth of field to match the camera of the device. All automatically!
“It has never been easier to create photographic images”, says Yazan Malkosh, founder and CEO of swatchbook.” This now gives 4 levels of rendering - design review, presentation, AR, and of course the retail shots. All fully automated - so you can focus on design, not rendering. In fact, we made it so easy that we let consumers create photographic images of their own designs in our remix app as well.”
“Snap” to save
Designers can save an image right from the realtime rendered scene or the AR scene - with a simple click of a button which will save the image to the Photos app. The image capture is instant as the scene is fully rendered at all times.
Make it look real with perfectly digitized, real-world materials
Rather than approximating materials through a proprietary shader model like most rendering and visualization applications, mix uses industry leading digitized real materials in standard PBR format from suppliers around the world to achieve the ultimate realism. These materials are either provided through swatchbook’s service centers or the subscribers themselves, right through the swatchbook platform.
Availability
mix 3.0 is immediately available for download through the AppStore for both iPad as well as MacOS X. Visit www.swatchbook.us/mix for more information.
